Proposed 1948 amendments to the Grant Code
Two years' experience in working with the Grant Code has shown
that many points need clarification and that certain minor amendments are
necessary.
As some clausos of the Codo have to be re-worded as a result of the
new salaries recommended by the Salaries Comission it is considered that
the present is a fitting time to go through the whole Code and make all
minor amendments and changes of wording desirable, but without in any way
affecting the basic principles of the Code to which Government has only
recently given its approval. It is considered that fundamentally the Codo
shows every sign of being successful, and that no major change should be
contemplated until at least 3 or 4 years' time, when the truc position will
be clearer.
The minar amendments proposed affect certain economies listed
below and also define more strictly the exact financial provisions to be made
by Government.
